Son of Sergio Omar Almirón, he started his career at Newell's Old Boys.

 

 

He was signed by Udinese in 2001

With Udinese, very young he played 12 matchs and then he loaned to Verona, in level B, for making more experience.

 

 

 

In summer 2004, Empoli bought 50% of player right, and finally bought all from Udinese in June,2006 and there he plays more and more matches dragging the club from the level B to the level A and becoming a point of reference for the club and for its play.

 

 

 

 

In June 2007 he was transferred to Juventus F.C for €9 million.
